I Was Like You... Maybe Worse

Four years ago I was like you struggling financially. I was living paycheck to paycheck (if you can call that living). I was three payments behind on my mortgage and my home was just about to be in foreclosure.

I drove a 1989 ford of some sort (you can just call it a Junker) that I purchased from a buy here pay here type of used car lot (it was the only place that would finance me with such bad credit). I had this car that barely ran yet it cost me about half of my paycheck every two weeks to keep it.

I got a few credit cards when I was 19 and by the age of 20 they were maxed out. Everything I had including all of my furniture and TV's, even my computer was bought on credit and way behind on payments.

I was so deep in debt it was embarrassing. Somehow from the age of 18 to the age of 22 I managed to get myself more than $35,000 in debt, and that's not including my house or car. Everything I owned I didn't really own, the bank did.

At the age of 25 I decided I couldn't continue to live like this. I knew there had to be a better way of life out there and I was determined to find it. I set out trying everything I could think of to make extra money.

At first I picked up an extra job selling sweepers door to door. This wasn't the best idea but I needed to find a job where I had the freedom of working my own hours so I could work around my 60 hour a week work schedule.
